| Joann and I spent the day in a cabana and the good news was it was hot but not has hot as the previous cabana day.

| Spent some time reading, spent some time starting to plan our 2027 trip to Germany, and mostly relaxed and did a little eating and drinking.

| Cooled off in the room and headed over to Aria for me to play poker and Joann to hit the slots.
|
| Early on lost a chunk of my stack trying to bluff, after raising out in the cutoff with 10-jack suited I got called by a few people including the big blind.
|
| Continuation bet when I missed, called by the big blind, king on the river, tried to rep a king, he thought about it and called with his flopped pair of threes. He had called me pre-flop with 10-3 off.

| Turned out that this was one of those people who would play almost anything and would call a raise in his big blind 100% of the time. Took someone out later with 6-2 off when he flopped two pair. Took someone else out some time after that with 3-2 off rivering two pair ...

| But overall it wasn't just him. Super loose table, every hand was 3 or 4 handed, little opportunity to ever steal even later on when blinds got bigger.

| And people were dropping like flies, we had people register late, bust out quickly, come back to the table on a second bullet, bust out quickly again.
|
| Only I was mostly card dead, and with little opportunity to steal it was a problem...

| I took out one such player myself, unfortunately he was already short stacked but I actually got pocket aces and raised out. Short stack calls with what would turn out to be 10-8, he flopped middle pair and jammed and my aces held up.

| 23,400 at the break from a 25k start, which was pretty good after losing about 10k on that early bluff.

| Between the first and second break nothing particularly interesting. Caught some pairs here and there, A-K and A-Q once each, but pretty much every time I had one of those hands I'd flop all under cards and would bet out and everyone would fold, with two big cards I'd usually hit flops and again everyone would go away. I was winning enough pots to maintain my stack but not enough to build it.

| 31,500 at the next break, so a little progress.

| Right after that break tho things totally turned around for me!

| Get all in A-Q vs A-9, both suited, against a loose player and river a queen to double up!

| 163 players, 72 remain, paying 21 places.
|
| At 1000/2000/2000 blinds I make it 6000 to go with Jacks, flop a set but can't get any more action. About 73k.

| Make top pair in a 4-way limped pot with K-J off, lead out and no further action.
|
| 80k or so, 63 left.
|
| Pocket kings, raise out, same caller who had doubled me earlier. Flop Q-J-X, I lead out, he folds 10s face up.
|
| 100k, still 63 left.
|
| Same guy again, he raises out to 7000 and I call with pocket 9s as do one or two others. Huge pot.
|
| Flop comes A-J-9, he leads out for 20k, I'm the only caller.
|
| He goes all-in dark as the dealer is putting out the turn, I snap call and he rolls over pocket aces.
|
| Set over set.

| No quads for me on the river, I'm crippled to 9500 and blinds just go up to 1500/3000/3000.

| I wait a couple hands but I need to get in before I have to pay the ante so I decided to take my chances with 8-6 of hearts. Never fold his big blind guy happens to be in the big blind, he calls off with 7-3 of diamonds, 7 on the flop, 6 on the turn, no help on the river and I'm done.

| Saturday the plan is definitely TORSE (how could I not?) at the Orleans rather than either of the things I was originally planning on (2-7 Triple Draw at the WSOP or NLH at Aria). Then Sunday will be another cabana day, Monday 11-Game Mix at Orleans and hopefully day 2 of that on Tuesday! |
