Vegas November 2010 (Deep Stack)

Day One - Deep Stack
Last Updated: 2010-11-07 01:29:42
Well the trip hasn't gotten off to the kind I had hoped for...
Flight was smooth beginning to end, didn't even have the bumpy start I usually get taking off from denver.
Met up w/ Leon, checked in dropped off my stuff, bought in at Venetian and then walked back down to Bellagio for the brunch buffet. By now if you've ever read any of my blogs you know you know what I'm going to say...incredible as always.
So back up to Venetian, we met up w/ Cody and all sat down. I was writing entries at breaks but I don't have a lot to add. What I do add to the next three paragraphs will be in bold:
Into first break up 2K. Got nothing for aces about three hands in, caught a king high flush and got paid. Then lost big chunk thinking I was calling a tilt shove with middle pair but he had top pair. But same guy gave most back calling me down when I had cowboys. At this point Cody had busted out, Leon was a little below starting stack I think
Not a great second two hours. Won a good pot w/ queens early wheni got four callers preflop, ace on flop, checked down to river where I hit 3rd queen but no action. Got queens again late but all I got were blinds and a limp out of it. In between card dead, folded slick aafter I reraised someone and they shoved- didn't want to flip a coin that early - and that was it. 4 hrs of poker and sitting at starting stack now. Still plenty of chips for blinds but they are creeping up and I'm well below average. Leon had a decent chip stack here, well above average
well didn't make it to third break. Card dead and losing chips shoved w/ first ace I got, had a coin flip and lost. Looks like its on to the 7:00 @ caesars...
Caesar's was pretty much the same story. Some big hands early, got paid some, but then went card dead. Won my first coin flip, eventually had to settle for another coin flip and the second one didn't work out as well. Unfortunately Leon busted out in venetian just in time to come join me.
Leon was having more success than me, but took some tough losses and busted out not long after me.
Leon was done for the day, I decided to go ahead and buy into 8/b at Venetian and then have a midnight dinner at mine and Joann's favorite 24 hr cafe at Paris.
So now i'm getting close to a 24 hr day, since I got up at 4:30am MDT today. Goodnight and I will update from venetian again tomorrow.
