Vegas June 2011 (WSOP)

Day 8 - The end
Last Updated: 2011-06-26 01:30:14
Joann and I hit the Bellagio buffet for one final brunch before departing. I learned something about Joann today. After the first glass of champagne she has a little trouble counting past one and a half...
After that it was onto the PLO mega stack. Unlike the previous day I was not at a table full of donks. But I never really got on track. I took out three short stacks, but couldn't get into any big pots with someone who could double me up. There were enough loose players, I just couldn't get cards at the right time.
I did have one near freeroll that would have changed everything for me. On the button w/ Ac-Qs-Jc-8d I raised on the button and got two callers. Flop Q-5-3 two clubs. I bet pot, one caller. Turn a blank, I shove (huge pot at this point) and the guy thinks a while and calls. All he had was same top pair top kicker w/ no other redraws except two live two pair cards but neither a club. I had 14 outs to scoop, he had four. I will take that any time. Unfortunately the chop held up or I would have been a very big stack.
Not long after that I lost the minimum when I had nut full house and ran into river quads!
I did eventually double up but not until blinds were quite high and eventually I got all in w/ middle set and a gutshot but ran into top set and none of my 5 outs came.
ugh.
So that was the end of poker for me. Joann and I ate a late dinner, won a few bucks at the craps table and called it a night.
Haven't made plans for the november trip yet but it surely will happen.
Thanks as always for reading!
