Vegas November 2012

Day 2 - Aria, Aria, Caesars
Last Updated: 2012-11-05 11:13:51
Didn't have time to get through the line at the Bellagio Buffet this morning and still be in front of a TV to watch the Packers so I just grabbed a quick breakfast at the pastry shop in Aria and headed over to the sports book. A solid win for the Pack!
Then it was on to the 1:00 tournament just a little late, and once again things started out very well. Got paid well for my big hands, won a nice pot with Kings and then doubled up with aces. Two and a half hours in I was up to 30K from my starting stack of 10k and in very good shape.
Then a very loose player who was playing about 9 out of 10 hands raised out and I looked down at A-K. I reraised, he called. Flop came J-K-rag. I bet 5500, which was probably between 3/4-pot to full pot bet. Loose guy shoves, I know I'm good and call, he turns over A-Q. 10 on the river...
Win that pot and I'm around 50K which would have been a massive chip stack at that point in the tournament. Instead that put me back to starting stack, and with the blind levels at that time I was looking for an opportunity to shove. Got an ace on the button and everyone folded to me, automatic all-in, get called by 10s in the big blind and the 10s hold up.
Had dinner at Spice Buffet at Planet Hollywood. Same food I'm used to there except that they dropped almost all of their desserts and replaced them with a big display of specialty cupcakes. They were really good...I texted Joann that I HAD to leave b/c I could have eaten like 10 of them...
So on to the 7:00 at Aria and I never really got traction. Peaked out around 13-14K, got moved to a different table and went card dead, shoved with K-Q and ran into a small pair for a flip and lost the flip.
I will name-drop a little, between the two tournaments spent a fair amount of time playing near Ivey's room. Between last night and today saw a lot of John-Robert Bellande and a little Ben Lamb and Antonio Esfandiari.
Then it was on to Caesars for more of the same in their 10:00. Mostly card dead, won enough pots to stay around starting stack, finally won a decent pot when aces got me paid well in 3-way action. But then card dead again, eventually got in on a flip my 9s vs A-Q off...A on the river.
Plan for today is more of the same. 1:00 and 7:00 at Aria, probably the Bellagio buffet for lunch (hopefully shorter lines on a Monday).
