Vegas June 2013 (WSOP)

Day 1 - Dinner
Last Updated: 2013-06-01 12:32:23
Well I will say this much, this was the fastest we've ever gotten from our house to Vegas. Under 5 hrs to city, if we had gone straight to hotel I would guess it would have been just over 5 door to door.
Not much to talk about for day 1. Hit the bank, then straight to Rio to buy in for Sunday. I will be in the orange section of the Amazon Room, table 377, seat 1 (1 is never my first choice...) if anyone wants to stop by and say hi :-)
Next over to Aria to check in. Our second stay here and already a little of the luster has worn off...first they charge a $25 resort fee that includes internet, spa, gym, etc in addition to the room rate. I actually like that...until free internet suddenly means free slooooow internet and I can pay another $15 for faster internet. That's pretty shitty IMHO.
And Joann was a little disappointed that the room didn't do the "open the shades and turn on the lights" thing the first time we entered the room like last time.
Having said all that, this is still an awesome hotel!
Then a quick change and over to Smith & Wollensky's for dinner and what an great meal. Joann had filet mignon prepared three different ways, I had the biggest t-bone I ever had and we ate way too much of their bread.
The bread is five sections baked together in a mini cake pan. They put either a touch of butter or olive oil on it and then throw salt and spices on top, sort of a take on how you would dip bread in a good Italian restaurant. Then they bring it out still hot in the pan it was cooked in with a spoon stuck in to help you split them up ('cause they might be too hot to touch!). Almost worth the price of dinner by itself...
After that, it was the usual otherwise lame first night in Vegas. Stuffed from dinner and worn out from the long day we went back to the room, read or played with our tablets a little and went to bed.
So the agenda for Saturday is the O8/S8 mix at the nugget at noon. Wish me luck!

Should be well rested. Hope your cards are good and your opponents unlucky!
