Vegas July 2014 - Main Event satellite

Day 3 - Main Event Satellite
Last Updated: 2014-07-06 13:37:12
Unfortunately a short one today. A very short one...
Went to the bank, my plan was to go on Friday but there was that whole holiday thing going on...good thing i brought a few bucks with me from Arizona to get us through Thursday and Friday.
Brunch at Bellagio, and even that was a little disappointing...only because the best soft serve ice cream on the planet was a hair less than perfect.
Then we walked to the mall and Joann bought some clothes. That killed a good chunk of the day, and we had a lot to kill with an 8pm start time for the satellite.
Joann took a nap, I did stuff online and we headed over to the Rio.
Talk about having a read on a table, and aside from having a loose player directly to my left I couldn't have set up a table better if I had hand picked who sat where myself. Older guys playing tight as a drum betting into me, loose guy afraid of me, guy clearly out of his league to his right.
I owned that table right from the beginning.
And things were going well. Won almost every pot I played, never got caught bluffing so I probably should have loosened up but my image was very solid so I was able to get away with everything I tried.
But then my brutal pattern this summer continued. Raise, reraise, I look down at KK. I decide I want to hide the strength of my hand and just call, original raiser folds.
Flop comes 7-7-5, original raiser bets 1300, about 2/3 of the pot, and I make it 3000 to go. Obviously aces are a possibility here given the action, but there are more pairs i beat plus AK and AQ in his range so I'm fully prepared to get all the chips in here. He thinks for a long while, no doubt in my mind from his reaction he doesn't have aces and is trying to decide if he wants to go with his hand or not...and goes over the top all-in. I call and flip over my kings, he winces and turns over pocket queens...
Queen on the river. Another monster cracked. Ugh.
Obviously I don't know what would have happened, but with 1 in 5 getting seats into the main event being the chip leader at a table I was in a position to literally run over would have been huge. Its incredibly frustrating.
So #ontothenextone.
Sunday I'll be playing in the daily deep stack, I saw they had over 700 Saturday so should be a decent sized tournament.
