Vegas June 2019 (WSOP)

Day 4 - Dinner
Last Updated: 2019-06-09 10:39:40
Real short post today just so I don't have a gap in my days...
Usual morning of Starbucks for me followed by the pool for Joann and I.
Grabbed myself an In-N-Out burger on the way to shopping (just burger and tea, skipped the fries with the big dinner coming). Came away completely empty handed at the outlets, did hit the liquor store for a few things that are a little cheaper out here (tho we now have to price compare everything we buy and quite often the Denver store is cheaper) and one thing that is a little hard to find.
On to dinner!
Two years ago Joann and I booked our 2017 June trip in I think January. I made reservations at Smith and Wollensky for dinner for one of the early nights in the trip as we always do.
Then in March I get a phone call. "I'm sorry to inform you we are going to be closing down because we're going to move to a new location and we cannot honor your reservataion".
We will rate that statement "true, but misleading". As it turned out they were selling the building they were in for something like $60 million. I would too! But they had no new location picked out, just a notion that at some point they would re-open somewhere else.
About a year and a half later, fall 2018 I believe, they finally announced the new location at the Venetian to be open for spring 2019! Every now and then I would check to see if I could make an online reservation and on April 9th lo-and-behold they came up in OpenTable!
I got reservation number 4! 3 people beat me to it!
Two years late we finally get our steak dinner.
It was everything we remembered! And everything was perfect! And the bread is still "to die for".
Joann and I have mostly stopped going out to celebratory dinners. Not for any particular reason, we just don't go out to dinner much when we're at home. And for those who have come to one of our family "pizza nights" often times we'd decide we'd rather stay home and make pizzas than go out.
This had become our annual celebration for everything, and we missed it. It was nice to have it back.
Meanwhile, Dave was having a pretty good day at the WSOP. He had bought into the "Millionaire Maker" and had worked his way up to almost 90K from his 25K starting stack but then lost about half of it when his "kings full" ran into a "royal flush." OUCH!
Things went downhill for him from there, Joann and I had stopped in to see how things were going for him about two minutes before he busted. All in with AQ, ran into AA for the second time in two days, done. Ouch.
That's all I got for today!
If anyone is in the area I will be at table Purple 466, seat 1 in the Amazon room Sunday for the 8-game mix!
Wish me luck!
