Vegas June 2024 (WSOP)

Nothing is final until the full WSOP schedule comes out, but as of the time I'm creating this BLOG we are booked at Vdara June 8-22.

Unfortunately Joann has already made plans to take two work weekends off in 2024 and cannot add another one, so short of a job change Joann will be flying home in the middle of the trip just long enough to work her weekend shifts and quickly return. We don't expect her to be gone even 48 hours. The one side benefit to this is that she has a shot at getting status with United and this round trip will get her that much closer.

Once the schedule comes out I could imagine adding days at the beginning or the end, but high level we both agree we should be making these trips a little shorter than we have been so I don't expect to.

AND ... no sooner did I write all of the above and within 2 days we added two days at the beginning and booked Joann's flights!!!

We're going out Thursday the 6th, Joann will be gone more than 48 hrs flying home late Friday, working the weekend and returning Monday. And yes that round trip got her that much closer to Silver on United...

MARCH UPDATE: OK the WSOP schedule is out and within 5 minutes of it's release Patrick was hassling me about throwing together my annual table. Well ... here it is, for now. Obviously as more schedules come out I will expand.

For this year I was planning to go back to basics and play more NLH and less mixed games. And honestly this schedule facilitates that. There are several I'd consider playing in, but neither 8-Game Mix nor Badugi fell into my window of what we booked. But I'm OK with that! There's enough...

FIRST APRIL UPDATE: The Aria schedule just came out and I've added things I'd consider. If there is a date w/o any Aria event it's either because it's their $3500 buyin championship early on that I'm not playing in or from there out it's a bounty tournament I'm not playing since I hate bounty tournaments. Very disappointed about the continual jacking up of Aria buyins, I thought "nothing less than $600" was a lot last year and now it's "nothing less than $800" which to me is just too high and cuts out the recreational players I'm wanting to play against in smaller fields. Not happy about this at all, looking forward to MGM's schedule (April Update 2 coming real soon!) and I may be playing MGM a lot this summer! But I do like playing at Aria so will likely bite the bullet a couple times.

May (probably final) Update:I have an idea how my 2.5 weeks is going to go. We added Wednesday night 6/5 instead of driving out morning of 6/6 because I accidentally looked at the Golden Nugget schedule thinking it was the MGM Grand schedule (GN calls it their "Grand" poker series, you can see the confusion...) and I don't think I can pass up an 8-Game Thursday when I'm not playing poker Friday or Saturday no matter what ... and Sunday I'm either playing BigO for a bracelet or not playing. So almost certainly 8-Game, 2-3 days off, then something Monday (BigO Day 2 would be optimal!) and then Tuesday with Patrick and Matt. And then a lot of poker from there out for a while!
