Vegas June 2025 (WSOP Part 1)

Planning

04/25 UPDATE: All the poker rooms have released their summer schedules. Usually I do a big day by day chart of what I would consider playing in, however this year I'm just going to do a bullet list of what I plan to play in. I will not have a car so I'm not playing at Orleans or Golden Nugget, and once again Aria has jacked up their buyins even higher to the point where I don't see playing there at all (I would have played HORSE there on my first day, a little lower buyin, but MGM has something I'd rather play in anyway!).
I can always jump into the WSOP dailies any day I decide to go off script, or days I am done early but still want to play. Outside of that I don't really have a whole lot of other options without a car and trying to keep it to reasonable buyins.
Also Joann has decided to join me for part of the trip and I will most likely not play one of Thursday or Friday. She comes in late Wednesday and goes home Saturday morning (at least for now :-) ) so really only two full days. I'll spend one of those days with her, she'll spend the other day lounging at the pool.
So with all that said, here's what I'm most likely looking at:
  • 6/16 - Fly in
  • 6/17 - $600 Triple Draw Mix at MGM (2-7, A-5, Badugi)
  • 6/18 - $400 NLH "Grand Stack" at MGM (or WSOP $1500 PLO but doubtful)
  • 6/19 - Likely day off but if I play anything WSOP Triple Draw Mix
  • 6/20 - $600 NLH Seniors OR $1000 PLO8 at MGM (wish they weren't same day!)
  • 6/21 - WSOP 9-Game Mix
  • 6/22 - If no WSOP Day 2 likely WSOP Dailies
  • 6/23 - $250 Big O at MGM or WSOP Dailies
  • 6/24 - Return home
02/20 UPDATE: I have booked Vdara for 6/16-24, just waiting for credit card to turn over to book air. The WSOP schedule came out, but since I wrote the original post we bought tickets for Post Malone 6/15 and we already knew Peter and Grace's wedding is the first weekend of June, so I didn't have much choice when I'd be going.
That said, I will get out in time for flight B of the WSOP Seniors event, beyond that I have to decide if I want to go for PLO or pick between a triple draw mix and a 9-game mix that are both more than I would like to buy in for but are the only other options I like. I will have more of a plan once other casinos start putting out their schedules because I am trying to cut back on WSOP and stick with smaller tournaments around town.
As of right now the plan is that this will be a solo trip for me and Joann will just go on the July trip. But Joann's work schedule does allow for her to come out for the long weekend so you never know.
We have no reservations, but we have a plan!
Part one is me going out myself, at least to start, for a week to ten days to just play poker. In a perfect world I would time my trip around a Joann weekend off and Joann will come out Wednesday late and stay until that Sunday.
But Joann will only be spending time with me when I have bad days at poker! I will plan to play every day, as soon as the schedule comes out I'll be picking my days and booking stuff!
The idea is lots of poker on this trip with not necessarily so much poker on the return in July.
I may also go for cheaper accommodations than we're used to, maybe "slum it" at Park or NYNY.
I will say that it will not be bracelet events every day, probably 1-3 bracelet events and other stuff I can find around town other days. I also hear a rumor that some other friends may be going out for their first time, entirely possible my trip will land around the same time as theirs!
