Vegas April 2009 (WSOP Circuit)

Day Two
Last Updated: 2009-04-15 11:59:21
Sorry folks but I have very little for you today.
Seems like lately my "last days" on gambling trips have been rough. One bad day out of a week is one thing...one bad day out of two kinda sucks.
Started out great because we had lunch at the Bellagio Buffet. Any Jim Rome listeners out there? You know his montage of comments about auto racing guys in interviews? Well, for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, Rome used to dislike auto racing. But then he interviewed some of the drivers on his radio show and he loved talking to every one of them. After a while he realized that he was repeating the same great comments about how much he liked interviewing them so he had his guys just grab recordings of those comments and paste them together. Now every time he interviews one of the drivers he just plays that montage of comments afterwards.
Well that's me with the Bellagio Buffet. I should set up a little page of quotes of myself and just have a link to that page every time I go there.
Added: Here, I did it
And every time I go there with someone new, they quickly figure out what I've been talking about. This time the victim was Leon. He'll never come to Vegas again without eating there once. Said so himself. The food was particularly good, I had a piece of swordfish steak that was done perfectly, but everything was great. Three desserts. The wii Fit is going to yell at me on Wednesday.
Maybe.
I spent a lot of time walking around killing time, I might have worked most of it off. Took the stairs a lot when using the pedestrian bridges instead of the escalators. Of course half of the escalators are broken this week so usually going downhill I had little choice.
I'm digressing a lot, aren't I? Well, you take the time to read, I need to make it long enough to be worth your while...
So then I blew a quick $100 at a cash game. Made a couple of good but tough laydowns after betting out (they showed) but then I got stubborn on a pot...turned out my read was right and I actually did have the best every time I bet...until the river...ugh. I was a little on tilt at that point, decided to gamble a little (poker is NOT gambling in Pete's world!!) and made money at both craps and blackjack. Actually got almost even for the trip.
But then things went a little downhill. Out of the 7:00 tournament that I love so much in the second round. Idiot straight against a better straight.
Won a little over half back at the craps table tho.
Ate dinner at the cafe at Paris. Joann and I really like that place, but I gotta say my usual meal (chicken salad sandwich) was a little disappointing. Might have to try something different next time.
Then on to the $120 "last chance" tournament at Caesar's. Out by the second round again. Caught top pair w/ big kicker and flush draw on flop, couldn't get away, ran into aces, didn't get any help. Added: That's a hand I'll usually gamble with these days. I've become a lot more willing to take early shots to double up with hands that aren't necessarily the nuts but could be the best and have big draws to go with them. Sometimes they don't work out... When I left this one, Cody and Paul were both still alive in the 7:00 with nice size chip stacks. Cody it turned out cashed AGAIN, they chopped at 5 handed. Good for him!
Gave some back at craps, won some at Blackjack, decided enough was enough.
And that was my day.
So a short and sweet trip as promised, now we look forward to WSOP time in the summer.
